How sharp is your sword?

The Jehovah Witnesses confess that they have changed their bible.

“One of the various ways in which the New World Translation honors God is by avoiding trinitarian bias.”  Watchtower, December 15th, 1963, page 763

Therefore when witnessing to false cults, how a Bible translates a key passage on the trinity is of the utmost importance:  Here are some key passages that I use when sharing the trinity.

Micah 5:2  The issue:  If the Messiah is everlasting, then he must be God.  If the Messiah is from ancient times, he is created.

King James Version.   But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

everlasting in Hebrew (5769) Strongs Concordance  olawn vanishing point

Aaron Pick Dictionary of Old Testament Words.  “everlasting”

Gesenius Hebrew/Chaldee Lexicon of the Old Testament  “hidden time, eternity perpetuity”

Note “olawn” use in Psalms 90:2 even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

These translations show the Messiah is everlasting.

Revelation 1:8

King James Version Revelation 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.  Revelation 1:11  Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and what seest write in a book Revelation 1:17-18   Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore,

Jehovah Witnesses will admit that Jesus is the Mighty God, but not Almighty God.  Revelation chapter 1 is a crucial chapter in sharing the deity of Christ with Jehovah Witnesses.  In Verse 8, the Almighty is called the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending.  In Verse 11, the Alpha and Omega is also called the First and the Last.  In Revelation 1:17-18, the one who has been raised from the dead is called the first and the last.

Using logic

Almighty = Alpha and Omega  (verse 8)

Alpha and Omega = the First and the Last (verse 11)

The First and the Last = the risen Lord (verse 17-18)

Therefore the Almighty = the risen Lord.

It is possible to prove that Jesus is Almighty God in these versions of the Bible:

New King James Version:  Revelation 1:8  I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End says, the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.  Revelation 1:11 I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last.  What you see, write Revelation 1:17-18  Be not afraid; I am the First and the Last, I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.

New Scofield King James Version: Revelation 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.  Revelation 1:11  Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and what seest write in a book   Revelation 1:17-18   Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore,

The Living Bible  Revelation 1:8  “I am the A and the Z, the Beginning and the Ending of all things,” says God, who is the Lord, the All Powerful One who is, and was, and is coming again!  Revelation 1:11  “I am A and Z, the First and Last!” And then I heard him say, “Write down everything you see, and send your letter  Revelation 1:17-18  “Don’t be afraid! Though I am the First and Last, the Living One who died, who is now alive forevermore

It is impossible to prove Jesus is Almighty God in the following versions:

New International Version: Revelation 1:8  I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, was and who is to come, the Almighty.  Revelation 1:11  Write on a scroll what you see  Revelation 1:17-18  Do not be afraid.  I am the First and the Last.  I am the living One; I was dead, and hehold I am alive for ever and ever.
